When the World Cup was awarded to Qatar, a few eyebrows were raised. However, almost halfway through the biggest sporting event in the world, no one can deny the entertainment that the football has provided so far, has been memorable, to say the least.

Although we have to wait until mid-December to find out who will win the World Cup, there has already been one winner at this year’s World Cup – The Lusail Token ($Lusail)

One of the more famous tokens used by middle eastern nationals (and those betting on FIFA games from around the world) is the Lusail token ($Lusail), a digital meme currency (not unlike Dogecoin) named after the second largest city in Qatar and inspired by Lusail Iconic Stadium, the largest stadium in Qatar, and the venue chosen to host the World Cup Finale.

Built on the Binance blockchain, the Lusail token has proven a popular choice for gambling in the Middle East state,

The Lusail team has plans to distribute NFT art – similar to football cards, but only in the digital form. The intended NFT utility distribution via airdrop offered by the founders includes free vacations to Qatar, including usage of the presidential suites in one of the eleven luxurious hotels surrounding the stadium, and box tickets to the most prestigious sporting event in the world – the World cup final.

Supported by a strong road map and solid tokenomics, the Lusail token has already proved a hit with Middle East betting fans, who turn to crypto to defi websites to place wagers in an effort to circumvent local laws, while ensuring they remain discreet and anonymous.

According to Mohammad Al Shahara, a sports journalist with inside knowledge of the World Cup gambling industry, “Most people, including even the most devout of Muslims, believe betting on the games is a way of supporting their country, teams, and also their favorite players”.

Having already created strategic partnerships with blockchain industry leaders such as CoinGecko, PinkSale, Pancakeswap, and CoinMarketCap, the Lusail token manages to capture the zeitgeist of the world cup, bringing together the ardent fever shared by millions of football fans around the world together with the appetite for sound crypto projects offering real rewards.

At a time when the cryptocurrency and DeFi world is being hit hard by the crypto winter, it is good to see one crypto project gain some traction.
